The Best Wine-based Bloody Mary Recipes

Looking for variations of the classic Bloody Mary to serve to your customers?

In this blog, we provide you with the best recipe for a perfect Bloody Mary as well as two other variations that your customers might enjoy.

Remember – you can use our wine-based liquors to make these drinks and serve at your venue with only a beer and wine license! Try our Klir Red as a vodka substitute, and our Rhumbero as a rum alternative.

Why would you want to make variations of the original Bloody Mary drink?

Creating variations of the original Bloody Mary can enhance your customer’s drinking experience in many ways, including:

  • Tailoring to Personal Taste: Different ingredients cater to diverse flavor preferences (e.g., tequila for a spicy kick).
  • Exploring New Flavors: Variations offer a chance to experiment with and enjoy unique taste profiles (e.g., Clamato in a Bloody Caesar).
  • Seasonal Ingredients: Utilize fresh, seasonal produce.
  • Cultural Experience: Incorporate regional ingredients for a cultural twist.
  • Change of Pace: Everyone knows the classic drink, so why not give them something new to taste and talk about?

1. The Classic Loaded Bloody Mary:

Ingredients:

In a cocktail shaker add the 3 oz. of Klir Red and 4 oz. of Santos Bloody Mary Mix. Shake for 10-15 seconds and set the cocktail shaker aside. Rim your cocktail glass with Spicy Chili Mix and add a few ice cubes. Grab your cocktail shaker and pour it into the cocktail glass with ice. If you want to get fancy with your garnishes, add an Olive, Cherry Tomato, and pickle on a cocktail skewer and place on top of the glass. Add the cooked shrimp on the side of the glass, drop in a slice of crispy bacon, and celery stick, and enjoy!

2. The Bloody Pirate:

This one is made with Rum instead of Vodka, and has gained popularity in the last few years. The spicy tomato juice pairs perfectly with the strong-tasting rum or Rhumbero Superior (wine-based Rum).

Ingredients:

Pour all ingredients into a highball glass with ice cubes. Stir gently. Garnish with celery stalk.

3. The Bloody Caesar:

Often simply called a Caesar, is a popular Canadian cocktail similar to the Bloody Mary. Invented in Calgary, Alberta, in 1969, the Caesar has become a staple cocktail in Canada, enjoyed for its savory, tangy profile. Fun fact: The Caesar is believed to be an effective hangover cure, contributing to its popularity as a morning or brunch-time drink!

Ingredients:

  • 3 oz. Klir Red (wine-based Vodka)
  • 4 oz. chilled Clamato Juice
  • 1 tsp. celery salt
  • 1/2 tsp. lime juice or water
  • 4 ice cubes
  • 2 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 dashes Tabasco
  • 1 rib celery

Measure the celery salt onto a small plate. Moisten the rim of a cocktail glass with lime juice or water. Dip the moistened edge into the celery salt. Put ice cubes into the glass. Add the Worcestershire sauce and the hot sauce. Top with the Klir Red and the clamato juice. Stir. Put the rib of celery into the glass and serve.

4.  The Bloody Maria:

This version is made with Tequila instead of Vodka, and a Michelada mix instead of the classic Bloody Mary one. A pretty interesting and appealing blend!

Ingredients:

Pour all ingredients into a highball glass with ice cubes. Stir gently. Put the rib of celery into the glass and serve.
